FOR over 290 years, the oldest still operating wool mill in the world, Fratelli Piacenza 1733 Spa. in Pollone Biella, has been handing down from father to son, the art of lovingly crafting the finest fabrics, enhancing the weaving process with the ancient art of manually finishing the fabric using the original "recipe” as in 1700. Taking up to 70 days to achieve desired results, with the ingredients of spring water and neutral soaps and "napping" the fluff using dried thistle blossoms mounted on rotary drums, the house has become a primary supplier for Geoffrey B. Small limited edition pieces since his pioneering introduction of the firm's fabric at the Paris avant-garde collections level in 2004, over 2 decades ago.
