HAND-DYED TESSITURA LA COLOMBINA ENTIRELY HAND-WOVEN PURE CARIAGGI CASHMERE YARN CLOTH WITH SILK HAND-STITCHED BUTTONHOLES & FONTANA SPECIAL DESIGN REAL HORN BUTTON STORY
THIS super limited edition GBS Evolution VIII EV8S01 shirt jacket design is one of only 2 pieces of its kind being made by hand in the entire world this year, each created from an updated 1920’s French 4-pocket work jacket pattern from our extensive tailoring research, and cut using one of the softest fabrics made in the world… an extraordinary all new ultrasoft pure Italian Cariaggi cashmere yarn hyperlux fabric that was woven entirely by hand by Tessitura La Colombina on their legendary 18th century wooden hand looms at Badoere di Morgano requiring almost 2 days of master work just to make enough cloth for a single shirt jacket, then specially dyed by hand in our world-famous GBS Superworkrooms at Cavarzere Venezia using a process that required over 12 hours of expert work to achieve its unique color, patina effects, shaping, drape and incredible softness. The design features 3 exterior and 1 interior functional work wear style pockets, real single-needle tailored double-stitched seaming throughout the garment performed by a single-needle sewing machine authentic to the period (that takes more than twice as long to create the garment than using typical double-needle equipment), impeccable clean-finished French-seamed interior construction, an elegant composition story of pure horn 2-hole rounded form button designs made for us by the world’s greatest living buttonmakers—Claudio and Cinzia Fontana in Parma, and no less than eight of our signature hand-stitched buttonholes in pure silk Bozzolo Reale Milano Seta threads (which required at least 12-15 minutes to create each one on the challengingly delicate handwoven fabric). The piece also features our world leading pure silk hand dyed label created exclusively for us by Mion SpA in Torreglia which is the first label in the luxury industry to completely eliminate plastic polyester yarns in it—beautifully attached entirely by hand using pure silk threads. Variations in color and color density are not imperfections or irregularities, but specific characteristics of the special fabric, hand dyeing processes, and hand making technique.
